A delegation led by the Chairman of Xuan Ye (Laos) Co., Ltd. visited Nanjing Agricultural University for a symposium and exchange.
On March 12, Xu Guowu, Chairman of Xuan Ye (Laos) Co., Ltd., accompanied by Li Xianghong, President of Guangxi Vocational and Technical University of Agriculture, and their delegation, visited Nanjing Agricultural University for a symposium and exchange. Chen Fadi, President of Nanjing Agricultural University, and Ding Yanfeng, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President, met with Xu Guowu and Li Xianghong and their delegation. Also attending the symposium were Gai Junyi, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of the National Soybean Bio-breeding Industry-Education Integration Innovation Platform, as well as Wang Yuanchao, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President.
At the meeting, Xu Guowu, Chairman of Xuan Ye (Laos) Co., Ltd., introduced the achievements that Xuan Ye has made over the past eleven years of deep engagement in Laos. He provided a detailed report on the progress made since the three parties began collaborating on soybean technology and put forward suggestions for the next steps in their work plan. Xu Guowu emphasized the need to strengthen exchanges and cooperation among the three parties, strive to build synergy, and jointly promote the China-Laos Soybean Joint Research Center to become a national-level research center, thereby better leveraging its platform role. At the same time, he called for expanding the range of research crops, enhancing the integration of research results and data, and making greater contributions to supporting national development.
Principal Li Xianghong introduced the basic situation of Guangxi Agricultural Vocational College. Principal Li pointed out that for more than two decades, the college has been committed to fostering international cooperation in agricultural vocational education with ASEAN countries, achieving remarkable results in areas such as variety selection and breeding, technology promotion, personnel training, development of technical standards, and creation of teaching resources. The college will strongly support the project’s implementation and looks forward to working closely with Nanjing Agricultural University and Xuan Ye (Laos) Co., Ltd. to apply for the China-Laos Soybean Joint Research Center to become a national key overseas research and demonstration base. At the same time, the project can be integrated into the college’s development of the China-Laos Modern Agricultural Craftsmen Academy, strengthening scientific research collaboration and industry-university partnerships to better serve the country’s Belt and Road Initiative.
Academician Gai Junyi provided a thorough explanation of the significance of promoting the “Soybean Southward” project and put forward clear requirements for advancing its implementation, including defining specific cooperation goals, assigning project personnel, and determining the implementation approach. He particularly emphasized practical measures for ensuring the project’s successful rollout. He expressed the hope that the three parties would further explore various forms of collaboration, develop detailed cooperation plans and schemes, clearly delineate their respective responsibilities, and effectively advance the project’s construction.
Vice President Wang Yuanchao of Nanjing Agricultural University expressed his agreement with the suggestions put forward by the university and Xuan Ye (Laos) Co., Ltd. regarding the implementation of the China-Laos Soybean Joint Research Center project, as well as expanding the scope of trial cultivation and promotion of various crop varieties. He stated that under the guidance of Academician Gai Junyi’s team, the three parties should further build consensus and enhance communication in areas such as scientific research breakthroughs, platform development, and university-enterprise cooperation, accelerate the signing of a tripartite cooperation agreement, and effectively promote the project’s implementation.
After the meeting, Chairman Xu Guowu had an in-depth exchange with Chen Fadi, President of Nanjing Agricultural University; Ding Yanfeng, Vice President of Nanjing Agricultural University; and Li Xianghong, President of Guangxi Agricultural Vocational College. He also visited the Nanjing Agricultural University Alumni House and the exhibition showcasing the university’s educational achievements.
