A delegation led by the Chairman of Xuan Ye (Laos) Co., Ltd. visited Guangxi University of Agriculture and Technology for a symposium and exchange.

On the afternoon of March 5, Xu Guowu, Chairman of Xuan Ye (Laos) Co., Ltd., led a delegation of five members to visit Guangxi Agricultural Vocational and Technical University. During the meeting, both sides held an in-depth discussion on collaborating to conduct scientific research trials on soybeans and other economic crops based on the university’s Laos Experimental Station, as well as on jointly applying for the designation of a national key overseas research demonstration base for soybeans and filing patents for their research achievements. The symposium was chaired by Li Xianghong, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and President of the university. Also attending the meeting were Liang Yesheng, Vice President of the university; Qin Gang, Vice President; and relevant heads from the Office of Scientific Research, the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, the College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and the Institute of Crop Research.

At the symposium, President Li Xianghong warmly welcomed Xu Guowu and his delegation, and introduced the recent development of Guangxi Agricultural Vocational and Technical University as well as its achievements in Laos, including the establishment of an agricultural experimental station, a branch campus in Laos, and the China-Laos Modern Agricultural Craftsmen College. She emphasized that the university will continue to deepen the integration of industry, academia, and research with enterprises “going global,” and will collaborate with various parties—including Xuan Ye (Laos) Co., Ltd.—on agricultural research, thereby creating a cross-border agricultural innovation demonstration platform and injecting new momentum into regional food security. In his speech, Vice President Liang Yesheng stated that agricultural technology is the university’s core strength, and the university will fully leverage its advantages to serve enterprises “going global.” Vice President Qin Gang also noted that, taking soybean technology cooperation as a starting point, both sides will upgrade and enhance their existing crop varieties in research efforts, focusing on cultivating high-value-added crops to meet national strategic needs.

Chairman Xu Guowu provided a detailed introduction to Xuan Ye (Laos) Co., Ltd.’s agricultural investment activities in Laos over the years, as well as its future development plans. He also summarized the research achievements made since the launch of soybean technology cooperation. He expressed his hope that this symposium would serve as an opportunity to promote trilateral cooperation among the company, Guangxi Agricultural Vocational and Technical University, and Nanjing Agricultural University, jointly striving to establish the China-Laos Soybean Joint Research Center as a national key overseas scientific research demonstration base. At the same time, he proposed conducting trials with various crop varieties, jointly applying for patent protection for their research outcomes, and working together to ensure the successful implementation of agricultural technology cooperation projects in Laos.

This meeting has laid a solid foundation for both sides to deepen cross-border cooperation between universities and enterprises. In the future, Xuan Ye (Laos) Co., Ltd. and Guangxi Agricultural Vocational and Technical University will continue to strengthen their collaboration, with a particular focus on advancing research into high-yield soybean technologies, improving crop varieties, and cultivating agricultural talent. Together, they will elevate China-Laos agricultural technology cooperation to a higher level and make greater contributions to the agricultural development of both countries and regional food security.
