Savannakhet, Laos, December 1, Xinhua News Agency (by reporter Zhang Jianhua) – A launching ceremony of rice export to China was held on the 10th in Savannakhet Province in the south of Laos, symbolizing a start of Laos to export rice in batches to China.
Phet Phomphiphak, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos expressed at the launching ceremony that export of Laotian rice to China fully represented a relation of good neighbors, friends, comrades and partners between Laos and China.
Phet Phomphiphak said Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos supported to export more rice to China and hence improve the quality of agricultural products of Laos and bring more income to Laotian farmers. He said Laos would expand growing area of agricultural products to form regional production. He hoped to sign with China more trade agreements on agricultural products to sell rice, fruits, vegetables and other agricultural products to Chinese Market.
Souphanh Keomixay, Governor of Savannakhet Province was happy to see the export of rice grown in Savannakhet Province to China and hoped this would be regarded as a beginning to promote the cooperation in agriculture between Laos and China.
Having made an application, Hunan Xuanye Ecological Agriculture Development Co., Ltd. was approved in March 2015 by National Development and Reform Commission of China with a quota of 8,000 tons of resold rice from the only Laotian base. On October 27, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) approved to agree the export of rice produced by Xuanye (Laos) Co., Ltd. – a wholly-funded subsidiary of Hunan Xuanye - to China.
Xu Guowu, Chairman of Hunan Xuanye said at the ceremony that Hunan Xuanye will actively involve in the Belt and Roadconstruction, closely following the progress of development in China and pushing forward the development in ecological agriculture. It will make efforts to practice the vision of Chinese enterprises going globally and enhance the communication between China and Laos in economy, agriculture and culture.
