Entrusted by Wang Tong, Chairman of CGEF, Deputy Chairman Mr. Xu Guowu led the Delegation of Investment Investigation for the Belt and Road to visit Nepal on September 3, 2016.

At 4 pm on September 3, 2016 of local time in Nepal, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance of Nepal, received at his residence in Katmandu, capital of Nepal, Xu Guowu, Deputy Chairman of CGEF, Dr. Biswas Shrestha and Wu Weidong, Deputy General Manager of AVIC International Beijing Co., Ltd. and a discussion about matters related to investment and construction of infrastructure in Nepal was made between both sides. Mr. Minister was fully confident with tee cooperation between China and Nepal and hoped that the oil storage tank project would be able to expand the range of cooperation between the two sides in infrastructure so as to make contributions to the development of relation between China and Nepal.

  

 

  

 

  

 

At 6pm on September 3, 2016 of local time in Nepal, Xu Guowu, Deputy Chairman of CGEF and Dr. Biswas Shrestha went to the residence of Janardan Sharma, Minister for Energy for discussion. Deputy Chairman Mr. Xu Guowu said it was great honor to meet Mr. Minister and expressed his purpose of this visit for making investigations on investment projects of renewable energy sources related to solar photovoltaic power generation and water power generation plant. After getting to know the specifications of solar power generation mode and water power generation plant, Mr. Minister thought these projects were all feasible, particularly water power generation plant project. Besides, Mr. Minister also hoped that Deputy Chairman Mr. Xu Guowu could coordinate relevant Chinese companies to come to Nepal for feasibility study as quickly as possible.

  

 

  

 

  

 

At 4pm on September 4, 2016 of local time in Nepal, Xu Guowu, Deputy Chairman of CGEF, Dr. Biswas Shrestha and Wu Weidong, Deputy General Manager of AVIC International Beijing Co., Ltd. had a discussion with Secretary General of Ministry for Supply. Secretary General indicated that petroleum storage tank and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage tank needed to be built up and he made an introduction of project size, site selection, construction time and feasible programs. Secretary General hoped that AVIC International Beijing Co., Ltd. would dispatch a technical team to Nepal as quickly as possible for site survey and complete a preliminary feasibility study report, and Ministry of Supply of Nepal would dispatch relevant teams to assist AVIC International Beijing Co., Ltd. Later on, both sides made a deep discussion about the details of the project. Finally both sides agreed that more communication should be made and communication in writing would be preferred to avoid any possible misunderstanding due to language barriers.

  

 

  

 

  

 

At 3pm on September 5, 2016 of local time in Nepal, Wu Chuntai, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, received, in Katmandu, Xu Guowu, Deputy Chairman of CGEF at the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, accompanied Dr. Biswas Shrestha and Wu Weidong, Deputy General Manager of AVIC International Beijing Co., Ltd. Ambassador Mr. Wu showed his welcome to Deputy Chairman Mr. Xu and his accompanies and briefly introduced the economic development, investment environment and reconstruction after earthquake in Nepal. Mr. Wu mainly learned about the investigation of Mr. Xu on renewable energy sources related to water power generation and solar power generation during this trip. He expressed that there are many basic projects for urgent construction in Nepal, especially with regard to energy. Mr. Wu hoped that Deputy Chairman Mr. Xu could take a full advantage of CGEF to positively assist and involve in energy project construction in Nepal. He also hoped that Dr. Biswas Shrestha could continue to act as a messenger for friendship between the two countries, making more contributions to the development of relation between the two countries. Deputy Chairman Mr. Xu sent gratitude to the Ambassador for his reception and care, and briefly reported CGEF’s investigation on energy in these days. He also expressed to actively participate in energy project construction and development in Nepal and serve for China’s Belt and Road Strategy.

  

 

  

 

  

 

At 6pm on September 5, 2016 of local time in Nepal, Prachanda, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, received Xu Guowu, Deputy Chairman of CGEF and Dr. Biswas Shrestha at his residence in Katmandu.

Deputy Chairman Mr. Xu Guowu conveyed the greetings of Chairman of CGEF Mr. Wang Tong to Prime Minister Mr. Prachanda. The Prime Minister also requested Deputy Chairman Mr. Xu Guowu to convey his gratitude to Chairman Mr. Wang Tong and invited Mr. Wang to pay an exploratory visit to Nepal at proper time. Both host and guests came to a consensus in a relaxed and pleasing atmosphere on cooperation widely in all fields between China and Nepal.
